Expatriate Coaching - how does it work? how does it help?
Because I am a life coach and not just a cross cultural coach, I am able to offer a unique combination of skills.
I don't just advise 'how it's done round here', but how it's done, how it will affect you, some potential 'hot spots' to look out for (depending on where you come) and strategies for coping with it all.
I will make you, or your employees, more happy and more productive, more quickly.
I'm based in Melbourne and offer an Expatriate Coaching Package of four or more face-to-face or telephone/ Skype coaching sessions. Between sessions a free telephone support service is available, for additional questions or simply just someone to talk to. Sessions 1 and 2 last 90 minutes each and are best taken back to back within the first few weeks of arriving in Australia. Sessions 3 and 4 are generally best taken after 2 or 3 months have passed by and more personal issues will have arisen.
• Session One covers the potential for ‘culture clash’, discussion around core Australian values, what behaviours to expect from others, how to develop awareness of your own value system, conflict avoidance, communications styles and so on. These values will inevitably impact on both your business and your social life.
• Session Two focusses on making friends in Australia; understanding how men and womens' needs differ in this area, some discussion around expat communities and some strategies for building networks, making friends and generally settling in as seamlessly as possible.
• Sessions Three, Four & so on Are much less structured and will deal with the particular emotional issues that you/ your spouse or your employee is having eg homesickness, absence of family/friendship groups and loss of identity but also with practical concerns such as needing help to find something or to get networked.
How much does it cost? $1200 for an individual or $2100 for a couple.
